North and Central Pattaya
If your only impression of Pattaya comes from pictures you’ve seen, the images are probably of Central Pattaya. Central Pattaya, with its beach, walking street and thousands of restaurants, bars and nightspots, is the entertainment capital of the region. It’s also the location of the ferry pier transporting tourists and visitors out to Ko Lan, the nearby island in the Gulf of Thailand. The city has some of the region’s best shopping malls and outlets, including Terminal 21 Pattaya, Central Pattaya (shopping mall), Outlet Mall Pattaya, Central Marina, Royal Garden Plaza, and Mike Shopping Mall.
Phra Tamnak
Phra Tamnak is an upscale residential area that straddles the hill between Central Pattaya and Jomtien. It offers panoramic views of the gulf, cooling breezes, and many boutiques and restaurants. The area is also home to spacious condo buildings and a few hotels. It is known for its small and quiet beaches.
Jomtien
Jomtien is sort of a sister town to Pattaya over the hill. It offers a long beach with plenty of hotels, restaurants, bars, and condos. Jomtien also has a slightly slower, laid-back atmosphere. There are not as many lights and noises as in Central Pattaya, and it’s a popular choice among retirees.
Na Jomtien
It’s a not-so-closely-guarded secret that most experienced visitors don’t actually stay in Central Pattaya. These travelers have learned that further down the coast is the perfect place to book a room for a getaway weekend or more extended holiday. Jomtien and Na Jomtien are the favorite destinations for frequent visitors to the Pattaya region.

The recent improvements to Pattaya’s Sukhumvit Road have enabled people heading for Na Jomtien to bypass the traffic of Central Pattaya completely.
